Vietnam Airlines is licensed to operate direct flights to the US

Vietnam Airlines just completed procedures to be licensed to open regular direct flights to the US. On September 21, the US Transportation Security Administration reviewed and approved the entire documents. The airline’s representative said that was the last step in the preparation. TSA will also send a representative to Vietnam to survey directly. The representative will assess the capacity to ensure security at Vietnam’s airport. This license is the basis for the US Federal Aviation Administration to authorise Vietnam’s airlines to operate regular direct flights between Vietnam and the US. Up to now, Vietnam Airlines is the first airline licensed to fly special international charter flights between the two countries.

amboo Airways signed a series of agreements with the US

Bamboo Airways has also been granted this license. On September 21, Bamboo and GE Aviation signed a $2-billion agreement in New York. This agreement is for the purchase of GENx engines and maintenance packages for the Boeing 787-9. This is the largest in value of the agreements Bamboo signed during this US business trip. GEnx is expected to be delivered to Bamboo in 2022. The engine will be used for the wide-body Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner fleet. This is Bamboo’s main fleet to exploit direct flights between Vietnam and the US. Bamboo also signed an agreement with CFM International. This agreement is for the selection of LEAP-1A engines and maintenance services for 50 A320/A321neo aircrafts ordered from Airbus.

The signing ceremony took place in the presence of President Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

On the same day of the signing sessions, Bamboo announced a direct route between Vietnam and the US. The Airways also launched the official general agent Aviaworld as its office in the US. Bamboo will join the Aviation Reporting Corporation from October 2021. The Airways also plans to connect to two international airports in California, Los Angeles and San Francisco. The Airways will operate flights from Tan Son Nhat to San Francisco. Vietnam Airlines will also reopen its flights from Hochiminh City to San Francisco from October. The national airline has established a representative office in San Francisco.
